Meet the Editor

Hi, I'm Hayley

If you need a qualified proofreader and editor to help you perfect your writing so it's at its best before unveiling it to your readers, you're in safe hands.

If you care about your writing, then so do I

Why I want to work with you

I know it can be daunting asking someone to scrutinise your writing, and you may be worried an editor will come along with a big red pen and obliterate your hard work.

Please don't worry. That isn't what I'm here to do.

I offer kind and helpful feedback and offer suggestions with the sole intention of improving your writing.

The alternative is that your work goes out into the world littered with errors. Imagine what feedback you may receive and to what detriment this could have on whether you achieve your goals.

You've put your heart and soul into your work and that's what deserves recognition, not your lack of spelling, punctuation and grammar knowledge.

And that, my friends, is where I come in.

How I can help

I'll polish the prose, remove the unnecessaries, tidy up any clunky phrasing and fix any errors or inconsistencies.

I'm not here to judge your writing abilities, only to help and guide you so you can feel more confident about your work.

I'll work with you so your voice and message are conveyed in their best light by making corrections and suggestions based on my knowledge and training. I keep communication open with you throughout the project, so I'm on hand to discuss anything should you need to.

For further information and indicative prices, head over to my services, for authors and publishers or for businesses pages.

Training, experience and recognition

I qualified from the Knowadays (previously known as Proofreading Academy) Becoming a Proofreader Course with distinction.

I'm also currently working my way through the Publishing Training Centre (PTC) e-learning modules (there are 15 in total) that build upon proofreading and editing skills.

I have experience working on various documents for many different clients. Some of these include:

  • Fiction for publishers and a company that turns manuscripts into an audio series

  • Blogs, journal articles, web copy and documentation for businesses

  • Essays, CVs and personal statements for students and individuals

I can proofread and edit in UK and US English and am an intermediate member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP). As a member of this professional body, I adhere to their Code of Practice. I'm also a partner member of the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi).

How it works

I aim to make working with me as easy as possible.

Please note: This is a simplified guide to the process and further communication and/or steps may need to take place to provide my services.
